Unity Place recently addressed Milton Keynes’ business community at a Milton Keynes Business Leaders Partnership (MKBLP) event, where Centre Experience Manager Nathan Kennard shared how Unity Place - the city’s latest landmark building - is fast becoming a catalyst for innovation, enterprise, and community.
Drawing on his personal roots in Milton Keynes, Nathan spoke passionately about Unity Place’s role in shaping the city’s future while staying grounded in its identity.
That sense of belonging underpins Unity Place’s ambition – not just to be a dynamic workplace and events venue, but a shared space that fosters connection, creativity, and collaboration.
Opened in September 2023, Unity Place is a sustainable, seven-storey development that brings together state-of-the-art office facilities, co-working spaces, and community amenities. It is home to Santander UK’s headquarters, co-working operator x+why, an exciting mix of food and drink outlets – including a bakery, brewery, and rotating street food traders – and a 300-seat auditorium used for conferences and cultural events.
Far from a traditional corporate office, Unity Place has hosted everything from family film screenings during school holidays to jazz nights in the Sky Lounge, all while supporting major local milestones such as MK Innovates and Milton Keynes University Hospital’s 40th anniversary.
“It’s not about closing the doors – it’s about opening them,” Nathan said. “We want people to walk through the building and enjoy it, whether they’re here to work, attend an event, or just grab a coffee.”
Unity Place is also positioning itself as a launchpad for local growth, offering space to independent traders and nurturing start-ups within its co-working zones. Its role in the Oxford-Cambridge Arc gives it a strategic location, but the real focus is local – empowering the community and businesses of Milton Keynes to thrive.
The event provided a timely opportunity to clarify Unity Place’s identity: not a closed corporate campus, but an open, integrated community hub designed to reflect Milton Keynes’ spirit of innovation and inclusivity.
As Nathan noted, the work is ongoing – and Unity Place’s full potential is still unfolding. “We’ve created something that belongs to Milton Keynes – and we want more people to experience it, shape it, and make it their own.”
