The Ripple Effect of Community Spaces
When people talk about wellbeing, they often think of classes, routines or things you have to sign up for. From our point of view at Unity Place, one of the most powerful wellbeing tools is much simpler.
It’s space. Space to meet. Space to pause. Space to try something new without worrying about the cost.
That’s why we created our Community Hall and why we offer it free to community groups. It’s also why we run free wellbeing activities in the space ourselves. Because access really matters.
Why free space matters
When both the space and the activity are free, something shifts. There’s less pressure, fewer barriers and no feeling that wellbeing is only for certain people.
People arrive as they are. Sometimes curious, sometimes tired, sometimes just needing a breather. And that’s exactly who the space is for.
The Community Hall was never meant to be just a room. It was meant to be a place where community wellbeing can actually happen.

Breathing together
Our free regular breathwork sessions are a great example of how the hall is used.
They’re open to anyone and held right in the Community Hall, making them easy to access and welcoming from the moment you walk in. There’s no experience needed and nothing to prepare for. You simply turn up, take part and leave feeling a little lighter than when you arrived.
Offering these sessions for free is a conscious choice. It means breathwork is something people can try without pressure, cost or commitment.

A place for men to talk
The same thinking applies to Man Cave, a men’s mental health group that uses the Community Hall as a regular meeting space.
Having free access to a consistent, welcoming room removes a big barrier. It allows the group to focus on connection and conversation, not logistics or budgets. The hall becomes a steady, trusted place where people know they can turn up and be heard.

From a room to something bigger
What we’ve seen time and again is how a free, open space supports real wellbeing. One session leads to another. One conversation leads to support. A room becomes a community.
That ripple effect is exactly why the Community Hall exists.
An open invitation
If you’re part of a community group, support network or wellbeing initiative and you’re looking for a place to meet, the Community Hall is here for you.
It’s free to use, flexible and already home to a growing mix of free wellbeing activities and community-led groups.
Because wellbeing works best when space, support and access come together.
