Unity Place proudly supported the unveiling of Walk With Your Dreams, a vibrant Nigerian-style artwork created by British Nigerian artist and designer Yinka Ilori MBE, which was officially revealed yesterday in Station Square.

Commissioned by Milton Keynes Development Partnership (MKDP) and Milton Keynes City Council, the striking installation fills Station Square with bold colours and patterns inspired by Nigerian textiles and by Milton Keynes itself. Integrated into the flooring, the piece not only provides a powerful welcome to passengers arriving at the city’s main railway station but also guides them to the entrance of the underpass that leads directly to Unity Place front door.

The unveiling was marked by a showcase of music, dance and poetry performances, reflecting Milton Keynes’ rich cultural diversity and its thriving Nigerian community.

As part of the celebrations, Unity Place played its role as the gateway between the station and the city, displaying a special message on its large external screen to welcome visitors and celebrate the arrival of this important new artwork. The vibrancy of the event continued with a private function and a community drinks reception held respectively within Unity Place’s Sky Lounge and x+why coworking space.

The event comes just weeks after Unity Place celebrated its second anniversary, underlining the venue’s continuing commitment to working with partners across Milton Keynes to shape a more welcoming, connected and creative city centre. By supporting Walk With Your Dreams, Unity Place reinforces its vision of being part of the first impression of Milton Keynes, a place that embraces art, culture and community.

Nathan Kennard, Centre Experience Manager at Unity Place, said: “The Walk With Your Dreams artwork is a striking addition that not only reflects the city’s diversity and creativity, but also guides people directly to our front door and into the heart of Milton Keynes. At Unity Place, we are committed to working with our community and partners to showcase the very best of the city, and we are delighted to support this moment in Milton Keynes’ story.”
